GK

The General Knowledge club helps students look beyond the classroom and stay curious about the world around them. Through guided discussions and friendly challenges, members strengthen their awareness of current affairs, Indian and world geography, history, sports, science discoveries, environment, and civic life—so they grow into informed, thoughtful citizens.

GK sessions focus on clear thinking and quick recall in a supportive atmosphere. Students learn to read news and information critically, connect ideas across subjects, and express answers with confidence—skills that support not only competitive quizzes but also everyday decision-making and responsible participation in society.

What we aim for

• Broaden awareness of national and international events, culture, and heritage.
• Encourage regular reading, observation, and discussion of reliable sources.
• Build teamwork, respect for peers, and a healthy spirit of inquiry.
• Link general knowledge to values of service, sustainability, and respect for diversity.

Activities through the year

• Weekly or themed GK rounds on topics such as India, the world, sports, and science.
• Inter-house and class-level quizzes, brain teasers, and “fact of the day” boards.
• Special sessions before important national days and school events.
• Opportunities to represent the school in external quiz and GK competitions where offered.

Like other club activities at Montfort School CBSE, Kazipet, the GK club is coordinated with the help of teacher mentors so that programmes are age-appropriate, inclusive, and aligned with our commitment to holistic education. Parents are welcome to encourage daily reading of newspapers or child-friendly news so that classroom and club learning reinforce each other at home.
